With both post assemblies erected, it was then time to fit the main beam through the posts. Despite the care taken with the positioning of the posts, this was still quite difficult to achieve and from hindsight it may have been better to have fitted the main beam before the post-fixing product had completely set.

Once the main beam was in place, it too was pinned using oak pegs.

The ridge and rafter support beams could then be screwed to the posts and cross beams (since the screws would not be visible).

 

Now it was possible to see the overall shape, dimensions and views for real - which looked good as seen below.
