This website seeks to respect the privacy of living people by showing the name of such a person as 'Living <surname>' and by not showing any images or facts for them (although close relatives may contact us to request a login identity which will make such details visible).
In order to determine whether a person is living, it is assumed that they could possibly still be alive unless any of the following is true (based on reliable recorded facts):

The person's death and/or burial is/are known

The person was born more than 100 years ago

The person had a marriage more than 82 years ago (on the assumption that they would not marry under the age of 18)

Any other fact for that person is more than 100 years ago

Any fact for any spouse of that person is more than 150 years ago (on the assumption that the person would not marry someone more than 50 years younger)

Any fact for any child of that person is more than 80 years ago (on the assumption that the person would not have a child when they were under the age of 20)

Either parent of that person died more than 100 years ago (they could not have had a child more than a few months after their death)

The marriage of the parents of that person is more than 120 years ago (on the assumption that they would not have had a child more than 20 years after their marriage - at least in recent generations)

Either parent of that person was born more than 150 years ago (on the assumption that they would not have had a child when they were more than 50 years old)

Any other fact for either parent of that person is more than 150 years ago (on the basis that any such fact could be almost as early as their birth date)
Clearly this is not 100% foolproof, but it is anticipated that most if not all errors should be on the side of assuming that a person is possibly living. If there are any cases where we have assumed that someone is dead when they are still living then we would request that you contact us so that we can correct such an error immediately.
