Welcome to the family history of Jonathan Baron Stranger and Suzan Stranger (née Brown). Here you will find a lot of information about our respective sets of ancestors. There is also extensive coverage (at least in certain geographical areas) of several key surnames - notably Stranger, Baron, Serpell, Pashler, Easterbrook, Measures, Iliff and Alford (or Halford) - including families that are not necessarily direct ancestors. There are pages in the Surnames section which provide an introduction to some of those surnames and their possible origins. Generally, any photos in those pages can be enlarged by clicking on them.
The surname Stranger, in particular, is effectively a 'one name study' and further contributions are invited (using the Contact form under Help) to help achieve full coverage and correct any errata.
Otherwise, the easiest way to use this site is via the search facility at the top right of every page, as follows:
-
enter all or part of a person's forename(s) and/or surname and click on the Search button (or press Enter) - or click on Advanced search and complete the form as required
-
click on the required person's name in the search results to see their family view
-
use the red arrows to navigate the tree (you will need to scroll right if there are a lot of children in a family)
-
click on an individual's name for known facts and notes about that person - and in some cases a small 'thumbnail' photo which can be expanded by clicking on it
-
if there are any media for the person, there will be a
icon which will display one or more images when clicked
-
click on the
icon next to a fact to see a list of sources for that fact - and if there are any viewable media relating to that fact then there will be a
icon
-
click on a source title to see citation details and any text - and, again, if there are any viewable media for that source, there will be a
icon
