
Meanwhile, I was working on a traditional guest entrance (nijiriguchi) in the form of a small sliding door (see Traditional tea house style). As was usual, the door was constructed very simply from some old pieces of reclaimed wood (in my case with a dark woodstain). As seen here, I fitted small bottom rollers to run in a groove cut into the frame using a router (see below).
Since the adjoining wall panel needed to be set back around 2 inches, I had to use small concealed brackets rather than glue to battens as for the other panels.
