Welcome to our home. We are fortunate to live in an unusual house adjoining a lake which was once a sand and gravel pit. Which means that we enjoy great views and wildlife but also that we have to contend with very poor soil with almost no water retention.
This website has been developed to document a number of ongoing projects - mainly centred around our attempts to create a Japanese tea house and garden, but potentially also covering other aspects of water gardening and examining some of the issues surrounding gardening in difficult conditions.
Many of the pages include images - most of which can be expanded by clicking on them. Please use the help pages if you experience any problems and by all means let us know using the contact form provided there.
This website is dedicated to Rod Barron, whose vision and energy turned a once small cottage into this remarkable home that we now enjoy.
