Founded by Bert de Ruiter and Evert Wilbrink in 2003, the label is home to songwriters, blues musicians and roots musicians in the broadest sense of these terms.

Wilbrink marketed Island Records and Virgin Records in Europe, was promo and A&R manager at BMG International and served as president of New York-based King Biscuit Flower Hour Records. Bert de Ruiter was international director for A&M Records for more than a decade and served Polygram/Universal in a similar capacity with added responsibility for the Motown label and as director of international for Mercury Records, prior to joining digital platform Vitaminic (in the UK known as Peoplesound) as managing director.

The name CoraZong combines the Spanish word for Heart Corazon with the English word Song.
