Any of several lamellophones consisting of a wooden board (sometimes fitted with a resonator) with attached staggered metal tines of different picthes, played by plucking the tines with the thumb and sometimes other fingers.

Especially popular in central Africa, variants include the mbira, kalimba, likembe and sansa.
