Multi-instrumentalist best known for his work with the electric violin, though he is also at ease with the viola, mandolin, bass guitar, recorder, penny whistle and keyboards.

Born in South Africa, Loveday started playing piano at 4 and violin from the age of 8.

Although essentially a session musician, Loveday has worked closely with a number of bands, notably 4 years as violinist with the Penguin Café Orchestra, joining in 1985.

Loveday has recorded with the PCO, Jeff Beck, Van Morrison, Bob Geldof, Paul McCartney, Paul Young, Paul Carrack, George Fenton, Kirsty McColl, Louden Wainwright III, Dave Edmunds, Danny Thompson, Tim Renwick and many others.

For a while he was based in Austin, Texas, where developed a feel for the roots styles of the deep South.

He has also performed with Garth Brooks, Randy Travis, Richard Thompson and others.
