An African one-stringed spike fiddle from the Gambia and Senegal, the instrument of the Fulani people who migrated from Egypt and now live all over West Africa. It is made from half of a small gourd or calabash covered with iguana skin as a resonator. A wooden neck is inserted through the resonator with a single horsehair string. It is played with a horsetail bow.
