Tokyo

After sadly too short a stay in Kyoto, we then travelled to Tokyo by high-speed rail, which was a good experience. Our hotel had some fine gardens (as well as excellent sushi!). We had planned to visit the Senso-ji temple at Asakusa, but were pleasantly surprised to find that the streets around were packed with the Sanja Matsuri spring festival. Later that day we also visited the Imperial Palace East Gardens.
