Kyoto

There are just so many wonderful temples and gardens in and around Kyoto that it is impossible to attempt more than a selected few. We had to visit Kodai-ji as it has some of the oldest surviving traditional tea huts. We decided to add Kiyomizu-dera and Ginkaku-ji for the former's dramatic views and the latter's gardens - and because it meant that we could cover everything on foot.
