Historically the most popular pale lager brewed in Thailand, although Chang is now beleived to have overtaken it.
Singha has a yellow gold hue with light aromas of sweet bready pale malts that follow through on a medium bodied palate with crisp, bitter hops on the finish. This has a great balance of assertive hops that cut through the all malt mouth feel.
Singha has always been brewed in Thailand, although a variant, Singha Light, was produced by two German subsidiaries up to 2001.
Beginning in September 2007, a 5.0% version of Singha replaced the 6.0% original. This new version, while still brewed in Thailand by Pathmthani Brewery Co Ltd, declares on its labelling to have been brewed under the supervision of Singha Corporation Co Ltd, instead of Boon Rawd.
Note that Wikipedia claims that, from March 2013, Singha beer will be produced at Carlsberg's Russian plant for distribution in European markets and that Singha will also use any of 8 Carlsberg plants in Asia for production.
