Rod Argent
born:
1945
died:
real name:
Rodney

member of:

Founding member, keyboard player, vocalist and songwriter with 1960s band, the Zombies.

He met Paul Atkinson and Hugh Grundy while at school and the three of them joined with Colin Blunstone and Chris White to form the band. In addition to playing piano and keyboards in the group, Argent was (with White) one of the group's two main songwriters, writing the hits She's Not There (with Dave Harrington), Tell Her No and Time of the Season, among others.

After the Zombies, he went on to form a band called Argent, which had a hit album in 1972 with All Together Now, containing the single Hold Your Head Up.

Argent later played keyboards with many other musicians, including playing on the Who's album Who Are You.

In 2003, Argent reunited with the Zombies' vocalist, Colin Blunstone, to record and tour, and released an album in 2004 credited to the Zombies (As Far as I Can See...), which received generally poor reviews. In 2006, Argent and Blunstone carried on touring. This was not a Zombies reunion and was credited to Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone of The Zombies. Also in 2006, Argent joined Hamish Stuart, Richard Marx, Billy Squier, Edgar Winter and Sheila E touring with Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band.
