Stuart was formerly playing with the surf band Sons Of Adam before being poached by Arthur Lee to shore up the rhythm section due to Snoopy Pfisterer's inexperience on the drums. In 2002, Michael published a book, Pegasus Carousel, which gives an insight into the band and the times they lived in.
