A British born bass player who originally played lead guitar. He replaced Alex St. Clair in the Omens before they both joined Doug Moon in a jamming band. Here he turned to bass guitar, having trouble tuning the higher notes of his guitar. This jamming group formed the nucleus of the original line-up of Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band. Jerry played on the Safe as Milk (1967), Strictly Personal (1968) and Mirror Man ( recorded 1968, released 1971) albums. He left the band in late 1968 for family reasons.
