Love's original drummer, he was only in the lineup for a short time. Said to have been struggling with a serious heroin habit, his appearances at rehearsals and gigs was never too assured, which led to him being dropped for the recording of the first album, for which Arthur Lee played some of the drums and bass before the arrival of Snoopy Pfisterer and Ken Forssi. The song Signed D.C. was written by Lee about Don Conka.
Lee and Conka remained close friends after the breakup of Love and, when there were rumours of a reunion of the original line-up (before Lee's jail term), it was also rumoured that Conka was Lee's first choice as drummer, ahead of Michael Stuart.
