aayacaxtles

Appears to be a form of Mexican shaker, consisting of a set of hard shells from the ayoyote (which is also the name often given to the instrument) tree, fixed to skin or cloth pieces in order to be tied to the ankles or wrists of the dancer or musician. Its sound is similar to that of rain.

Also known as huesos de fraile (friar's bones?) or coyoleras.
