A guitar with a longer scale length, typically a larger body and heavier internal bracing, so it can be tuned to a lower pitch, usually tuned 4 or 5 notes below a normal guitar. Tunings can be ADGCEA or BEADF#B.
Most major guitar manufacturers, including Gibson, Fender, Ibanez and Gretsch, have produced electric baritone guitars since the 1960s, although always in low numbers due to low popularity. Some, inclkuding Martin, have made acosutic baritone guitars.
