Tuned [GDAE], exactly one octave below a fiddle or mandolin. It is also possible to add a course to the bottom to get a low D, making the tuning [DGDAE] or [EAEAE], or a multitude of others. This is roughly the same as a long-scale tenor banjo in length and tuning.
