Sometimes spelled zheng or gu-zheng, the smallest and highest-pitched of Chinese plucked zither, related to the ch'in and the Japanese koto. It is roughly 47 by 12 inches with a galley-shaped resonator. In cross-section, the top is curved and the bottom flat. It has 16 to 25 strings and movable bridges.
