Famous Greek singer.

Born on the Greek island of Kos, she moved with her family first to Egypt, where she began performing primarily for Greeks, and then to New York in the mid 1910s. There she and her husband Kostas owned a club, Marika's, during the 1920s, but lost it shortly after the 1929 crash. Along with Roza Eskanazi and Rita Abadzi, she was one of the three primary female voices of rebetika, the underclass style of popular songs performed largely in coffee houses, prisons, taverns and hash dens since the mid 19th century.

She recorded prolifically until 1937.
