Country soul singer/songwriter and founding member of the Amazing Rhythm Aces.

Blessed with a baritone voice that is both undeniably country, yet as soulful as anyone who has ever recorded at the southern soul studios of Muscle Shoals and the like.

When the Aces disbanded in 1979, Smith started a solo carrier but, like the Aces, his output has been appreciated only by a loyal core of supporters. He has fared better as a songwriter, and his songs have been covered and reached the country music charts. His most recent solo album, The End Is Not In Sight, released in 2001, includes new songs and two renditions of the Aces' The End Is Not in Sight and Third Rate Romance.
