Finnish bass player with avant-rock-jazz band Krakatau.

Krokfors met guitarist Raoul Björkenheim while working with composer Edward Vesala in the early 1980s.

Krakatau was active from 1985 to 1996.

In the late 1990s, Krokfors struck up a working relationship with drummer Markku Ounaskari. What followed was an intense period as the duo soon found itself backing a number of top Finnish modern jazz bands.

Although all the while emphasising improvisation, Krokfors began composing in earnest around 2000, including recordings with pianist/harpist Iro Haarla and saxophone player Rasmus Korsström, which led to the formation in 2005 of an improvisational ensemble called Loco Motife.

In recent times, Ulf Krokfors has also performed and recorded extensively with saxophonist Juhani Aaltonen.
