Love's drummer on their first album, he soon became their harpsichord/keyboard player on the arrival of Michael Stuart. Classically trained at the piano, his skills can amply be heard on the intro/outro of Da Capo b-side opus Revelation and Stephanie Knows Who.

Pfisterer was a roommate of Ken Forssi while a student. When Forssi met Arthur Lee in 1965 and joined his band Grass Roots (which was later renamed Love), Pfisterer became an occasional substitute drummer.
