Philips Phonografische Industries (PPI) was started in 1950 by the Dutch electronics giant Philips. During much of the 1950s, the label served to distribute recordings made by the US Columbia Records label in the UK.
In 1962, PPI and Deutsche Grammophon were linked into the Phonogram Records joint venture which was in turn merged with Polydor Records in 1972 to become Polygram.
Philips is now part of the Decca Music Group which is part of Universal Music Group.
