Respected independent label founded in 1977, well-known for its audiophile recordings of classical works. Originally a classical music-only label, the label has since released music from other styles of music including jazz, blues and country music.

In 1996, Telarc merged with another independent label, Heads Up, now a Telarc subsidiary. It was reported in 2005 that both Telarc and Heads Up have been sold to the Concord Music Group.
