zeze
[tzetze, dzendze]

A stringed instrument, probably classified as a spike fiddle, from sub-Saharan Africa. Some sources suggest that it has 1 or 2 strings, made of steel or bicycle brake wire, with a resonator made from a gourd (as pictured) or box. The wire or string is then plucked or played with a bow and can produce a wide variety of sounds depending on the nature of the frame.

However, some other sources say that it is a flatbar zither.
