The more common name for the pan flute class of instrument. It is found in Eastern Europe (especially Romania and Moldova) and there is also a cylindrical version called a wot in the Isaan region of Thailand and Laos. However, the most famous type (pictured) is that found in the Andes regions of South America, particularly in Peru, Bolivia and Chile where it has several names according to the local language.
