[bodran]

A frame drum made from wood and goat skin. It is played with a drumstick, rounded on both ends, which is held like a pencil and shaken so both ends hit the drum. Different sounds can be made by pressing the goat skin with the hand underneath the drum, which is hollow.

This drum has its origins in Ireland.
