Any one of a number of musical instrument systems that allow a guitar player to access synthesizer capabilities.

Today, there are two main forms of synthesizer-enhanced guitar:

• those that are regular electric guitars equipped with special electronic sensors that actuate a synthesizer (a Fender VG Stratocaster that has such an interface inbuilt is shown)
• those that are guitar-like MIDI controllers
