The Brazilian tambourine. It has a tunable skin and jingles which are muffled in comparison to an American version. Brazilian sambistas (musician/dancers) have developed pandeiro playing and juggling to a very high level. The pandeiro is the symbol of Brazilian Carnaval culture.

Pandeiro is also the name of the square version of the Galician frame drum.
