Echoplex is a term often applied to the use of multiple echoes which recur in approximate synchronisation with a musical rhythm, so that the notes played combine and recombine in interesting ways.

Echoplex guitar refers to a technique for playing a guitar through an echoplex unit to achieve such an effect. John Martyn is often credited as the pioneer of this technique.
