Michael Myers, a psychotic murderer institutionalised since childhood for the murder of his sister, escapes from a mental hospital and goes on a murderous rampage on Halloween night after returning to his hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois. Inexplicably, his prize victim seems to be babysitter Laurie. His psychiatrist, Dr. Loomis, tries to stop him.
