Hotel owner Basil Fawlty's incompetence, short fuse, and arrogance form a combination that ensures accidents and trouble are never far away.

1. A Touch of Class

Basil tries to raise the tone of the hotel by placing an advert in a high-society magazine. When the aristocratic Lord Melbury comes to stay. Basil fawns over him at every opportunity, and is only too pleased to cash his Lordship's cheque, but all is not quite as it seems. Meanwhile, Sybil orders Basil to hang a picture.

2. The Builders

The lobby is in need of a face-lift, but while Sybil's back is turned Basil's drive to save money causes him to the lowest quoting builder, a cowboy by the name of O'Reilly, rather than Sybil's choice, the respected and trustworthy Mr Stubbs.

3. The Wedding Party

A group of guests arriving at the hotel in preparation for a nearby wedding raise Basil's anger levels when he mistakes them for swingers and sex addicts.

4. The Hotel Inspectors

When friends tip off the Fawltys that a group of hotel inspectors is in town, Basil sets out to be as nice and amenable towards the guests as possible. However, one particularly demanding visitor pushes him over the edge...

5. Gourmet Night

André, a local restaurateur and friend of the Fawltys, helps them arrange a special gourmet night withe cream of Torquay society at Fawlty Towers in order to make the best use of new chef Kurt's considerable talents...

6. The Germans

While Sybil is in hospital, receiving treatment for an ingrowing toenail, Basi is left to carry out a fire alarm test and oversee a group of German guests. What could possibly go wrong?
