Bridget Riley
real name (if different):
born:
 died:
country:

One of the foremost exponents of Op Art, she burst onto the British art scene in the 1960s with her striking and original paintings based on optical illusions. Her work influenced fashion designers and she continues to paint and exhibit today. Riley was particularly interested in the way that the brain can create the appearance of movement between shapes and lines, and used this effect in her paintings. In recent years, she has painted directly on the walls of galleries.
